Beaches

If you enjoy lake swimming, there are several small beaches around Lake Trasimeno in Umbria.

The beach resorts of Romagna are popular and busy, with beach bars and water parks. The sandy beaches along the central Adriatic coast of Marche are quieter and more relaxing.

Private beaches charge an entrance fee and provide sun loungers, umbrellas and often changing rooms, toilets and showers. Umbrellas are sited close to one another so there is little privacy.

Public beaches (spiaggia libera) are free – umbrellas and deck chairs or sun loungers are not always available for hire, but you can find a space away from others.  Showers are not usually available.
